Local Children's Author A Hit With Reviewers
BY DAVID ROURK, ROURK PUBLIC RELATIONS
JULY 2006
Children's author Richard Harris of Virginia Beach recently
received
acclaim from The Midwest Book Review for
his book "I'm
Walking, I'm Running, I'm Jumping,
I'm Hopping ..."
Established in 1976, The Midwest Book Review issues
several
monthly publications for community and academic
library systems
nationwide.
The review, published in The Children's Bookwatch
newsletter,
said Harris' entertaining picture book is a "
delightful,
kid friendly guide to the importance and
practice of eating right," and "is
strongly recommended as
an encouraging and welcome aide to keeping
kids fit and
healthy in this age of increasing childhood obesity
and
fast food availability." The review went on to say the
book
was an "ideal addition to any school or community library
collection."
Harris has written three amusing and educational
children's
books on fitness and money. Written in rhyme,
the books appeal
to children ages 7 - 12 and provide tips
they can use for a lifetime.
Harris is a former high school teacher and coach, and a
Certified
Financial Planner with Sagemark Consulting in
Virginia Beach.
He believes the more children hear the
positive message of health
and money, the more they'll
benefit from it. His upcoming Web
site,
www.encouragekids.com, will allow children to track their
fitness progress and learn fun health and money tips. |
